December Favorites 2015

I can't believe December and this year are coming to an tonight, 12 hours and 28 minutes!! December was a pretty good month for me, especially since half of the month were a vacation for me. Oh the perks of the teaching field! Today I'll be sharing some of my favorites, just a little bit of everything.

Of course I'm going to start with the obvious, Star Wars!! I LOVE this movie, in fact me and my boyfriend Ramon went to go watch this for the second time today. And it still makes me so happy and heartbroken at the same time. I highly recommend this to everyone, even if you've never watched any of the Star Wars movies.

Since I've been on my winter break, I've had more time to stay up and binge watch some shows. Me and Ramon have been watching The Office on Netflix. If you've never watched this show, you must!! It's soooo hilarious, and whole cast is awesome.

Since we're on the topic of Star Wars, I've been loving my Star Wars Vans that I got as an early Christmas present from Ramon. I love Vans, and these are comfy and I get to wear these to work. The kids love them, haha! They are limited edition, but you may still be able to find some.

For beauty favorites, I haven't really been wearing a whole lot of makeup this month. I've been using my MAC blush in Prism, it's a really pretty pinky brown color. I've really been using this Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Liquid Eye Liner [that's a mouthful]. It's good for practicing my much-failed winged liner. And the CoverGirl Star Wars mascara because I'll admit I'm a bit of a crybaby, it's still limited edition but I've seen everywhere in stores.

And lastly for a random favorite, it can't be the holidays without...tamales! I am Hispanic, so of course tamales will be the main course for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner. My parents have been trying to perfect their tamale skills and I'm totally fine being their tasting guinea pig.

I hope you all enjoyed my December favorites, what are some of the things you've been enjoying this month?

I hope you've had a wonderful year, I hope 2016 brings good things to each and everyone of you. Happy New Year everyone, stay safe!

Music Monday

Hello again! I really need to work on an intro to posts. An appropriate one would be Merry Late Christmas! I hope you all had a nice Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate.

Today I bring you some of my favorite musics, yes musics, I've been jamming to lately. Whether it's in the car, in the shower, in my room, or just playing in my head; these are some albums and tracks I'm currently loving. Hope you enjoy!

The Neighbourhood, "Wiped Out"
I love this album, it's kind of different than their last album I Love You, but it's still their style. It's more of an electronic sound this time around, definitely good driving music. My favorite tracks are Prey, Wiped Out!, and R.I.P to my Youth.

 Florence and the Machine, "Lungs"
I LOVE Florence, her voice is so unique and strong. I love all her albums, but I've been really loving Lungs lately. This album came out a few years ago but I definitely recommend this album to everyone. My favorite tracks are Cosmic Love (which I'll leave for you), Blinding, and Drumming Song.

Purity Ring, "Another Eternity"
If you like electronic music, you'll like Purity Ring. I love listening to this in the summer, but lets face it, the weather has been pretty warm here in Texas. I found myself listening to this album as I was Christmas shopping and I've been playing a lot after that. Repetition, Heartsigh and Bodyache are some of my favorite tracks. This album will definitely get you in a dancing mood.

Of Monsters and Men, "Beneath the Skin"
Lastly, I've really been enjoying this album from OMAM, I believe this is their second one and it was released this past summer. I love this band, My Head is an Animal was a really great album, I listened to it from start to end. Their sound is very unique and pretty laid back. Wolves Without Teeth and Empire are my favorite tracks.

Maybe I'll do more Music Mondays, maybe share some new and old favorites. What are you currently listening to? I'm always open to discovering new bands and artists.

I hope you all have a good week, I can't believe 2015 is almost over.
Until next time,
Mayra :]

Makeup of the Week #1

Greetings!
My first makeup post, yay!
It's Winter Break, yay!!!
I don't really wear a whole lot of makeup to work, I'm always in a hurry and don't have time to put a lot of effort into my face. I'm always running late, haha. I try to at least throw on some mascara and liner, and the occasional tinted lip balm. But when you teach Kindergarten, appearances are the least bit important to the wee Padawans.

Today I'm going to share with you some products I've been using these past two weeks. It hasn't been a good week at work, but it's been a decent week for makeup. Enjoy. 💙

Before putting on makeup, I always moisturize with Vanishing Cream from Lush. Sorry, I didn't include it in a picture. I'm saving it for another post. Then I go in with a bit of Pore Filler from NYX, I find that my foundation stays on nicely all day with it. Since work has been stressful, I haven't been getting much sleep. So I conceal my under-eye circles and brighten up my face with the Instant Age Rewind. This is by far my favorite concealer, I haven't tried many but I like this one. After blending it in under the circles and around a little redness, I usually set it with the Lush Emotional Brilliance translucent powder. If I'm good on time or just feel like I want a bit more coverage, I'll dust a bit of the Amazonian Clay powder foundation from Tarte, I'm in the shade Light Neutral. And I LOVE that stuff!! I don't need a whole lot of coverage, but this little guy does it's job. It's build-able, but again I don't need full coverage.

For blush, I've been using the Milani powder blush in Tea Rose. It just gives me the right amount of flush and the packaging is too cute. And on days that I'm feeling cute, I'll thrown on a bit of highlight. I just use the ELF baked eyeshadow in Moonlight Serenade on the tops of my cheeks, along my nose, and a bit in the inner corners of my eyes.

For my eyes, I haven't been wearing eyeshadow this month. Like I mentioned, I'm always in a hurry so I don't have much time to work on my eyes. I've been trying ever so hard to perfect my winged liner, or master the cat-eye. Some days its "on point" others its just sister liner. I've really been enjoying the Tarte Precision Liner, it has a really thin tip which is great for drawing the wing shape. And for mascara I finally opened my CoverGirl Star Wars mascara, in honor of The Force Awakens. Its the same formula as the SuperSizer, just different packaging. This is one of my holy grail mascaras, it keeps the curl on my lashes and gives them volume. It's limited edition, but I believe it's still available.

And lastly, for lips I'll just use a tinted lip balm. Lately, I've been using the Kiss Me lip balm from Sephora in the shade Soda Pop. It smells just like Coca Cola, and it give me a nice berry tint. Pretty perfect for this still Fall season we've been having here. If I'm not wearing the lip balm, or wearing a bare lip, I'll lightly dab on some of the CoverGirl Star Wars lipstick. I really hate that they didn't have names, but the packaging is nice and sleek. Can you tell I love packaging? I have a few of them, but I'll wear the dark berry shade in 50. How boring is that? 50. They could've named it "Dark Side" or something related to the movies. Anywho, I really like this shade, but I'll wear it very lightly for work. Just enough to get some color on my lips.

I hope you enjoyed some of the things I've been using. What are make up are you wearing this week? I love to try new products.

Hope you all have a good week, 5 more days 'til Christmas.
Until next time,
Mayra :]

Countdowns

Hello again!
Heh, as if anyone reading this. If I do have readers, bear with me. I'm still very new to this, so my posts are going to be all over the place. Ha, kind of like me.

But yes, the dreaded Monday. I actually don't mind it. As I mentioned in my previous post, I work for a charter school and I'm definitely counting down to Winter break. (9 days!) Two lovely weeks of hibernating and catching up on Netflix, not to mention hours upon hours of laziness. My boyfriend, Ramon, constantly tells me that I was a cat in my previous life. All I do is eat, sleep, stay moody, and demand his attention. That could possibly be true, I LOVE cats. Sadly, we have none.

As I'm counting down for Winter break, I'm also counting down for Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Ahhhhh!! 10 days. I can't stop going over theories after theories. Where's Luke? Did he go to the Dark Side? Who are Rey's parents? I'm so impatient!! Either way I'm beyond excited. Me and Ramon are having a Star Wars marathon before we go watch the movie, even thought I wasn't too into the first three. As much as I love Star Wars, I actually won't be watching it December 18. There's something about opening night and crowds of people that just makes my anxiety rise. We're actually waiting a few days later to go watch it, a matinee for me is calmer. That way I can cry without having to worry about the person sitting next to me thinking that I'm crazy. Knowing me, I will cry of happiness and seeing all the returning characters. *sigh* Han Solo. 'Nuff said.

I'll leave you with the trailer, which I still tear up over.

Are you all excited about it too?

I hope you all have a nice week.
May the force be with you.

Erm, Hello!

I guess this is really happening, I'm starting my own blog. Yikes!
I've always wanted to do this, but just never really had the motivation to start. I've always been the type of person to have so many ideas and projects, but I find myself getting stuck on how to begin.

Here's a little bit about me..
I'm 28 years old, I live in Dallas (not going to say where). I work in a charter school, with Kindergarten, and I love it. I love kids, but I have none of my own. I really don't have any hobbies, but I love to play around with makeup when I have the chance. I have a really handsome boyfriend, I guess I'm partial to that. He's kind of my motivation for starting to blog. We've been together for over 2 years, he's my best friend and mento. Haha, my failed attempt to sound like Joey from Friends. I have the worst sense of humor. You'll be seeing some posts of our dates and little adventures.

I'm not sure how this blog will turn out, not even sure if anyone will end up reading it. But this is something I wanted to do for myself. I really just want to share my thoughts and love for beauty, even though I'm no expert. Along with my interest in fashion, personal favorites, and my obsession with Star Wars. So you'll be seeing a lot of those. I would start my own YouTube channel, I just don't have the confidence for that yet.

So stick around and see what kind of ramblings I have or what shenanigans I get myself into, it's just all a part of life as Mayra. (cheesy?)
